Find Me Legal Support is a Community Interest Company focused on maximising access to justice across the UK. Recent years have seen a significant rise in the number of litigants in person representing themselves within UK courtrooms. The high costs of legal representation, shortage of legal aid practitioners, and current cost of living crisis mean many people are forced to navigate the litigation process independently.

The court process is often complex: there are deadlines to meet, procedures to understand, and principles to wrap your head around. For many litigants in person, the task is daunting and not one they would choose to face alone. Find Me Legal Support is committed to bridging the UK’s current access to justice and ensuring that the inability to afford legal representation does not mean litigants in person are left completely isolated.

Find Me Legal Support operates by providing McKenzie Friend services at a fraction of the cost of traditional legal services. While McKenzie Friends cannot replace the role of a qualified solicitor or barrister, they can help provide organisational guidance, moral support, and assistance explaining relevant principles and procedures. Our diverse range of service packages allows clients to choose the option that best suits their individual circumstances and budgetary requirements, while being connected with a McKenzie Friend whose skills and availability match their case.

Unlike other McKenzie Friend coordinators, we exclusively recruit our McKenzie Friends from a pool of law graduates and early-career legal professionals. This ensures that all our McKenzie Friends have legal knowledge, prior to taking on your case. We provide additional training in professional ethics, GDPR principles, and confidentiality procedures to ensure high service standards across the business.

What is a McKenzie Friend?

A McKenzie Friend is someone who provides practical support to someone who is representing themselves during litigation.

A McKenzie Friend is not a solicitor or barrister and cannot replace the role of a regulated professional. However, a McKenzie Friend can help provide moral support, administrative assistance, and objective guidance on the court process.

One of our Legal Assistants will review your enquiry and help match you with a suitable McKenzie Friend from our panel. Our McKenzie Friends include law graduates and professionals working within the legal sphere. We’ll aim to match you with someone whose experience and availability are appropriate for your case.

Step 4: Receive Support

Your allocated McKenzie Friend will review your case and begin researching.

Depending on your chosen package, this might include:

Helping you understand court documents and procedures;
Helping you organise your evidence and case papers;
Helping you prepare a chronology;
Helping you prepare for the hearing process;
Helping you develop an action plan of next-steps.
